Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB) is a safe procedure that has seen wide medical use since the 1920s. A long-acting local anesthetic is injected around a collection of nerves located on the right side of the neck. These nerves control the “fight or flight” response of the sympathetic nervous system. Cleveland Medical Institute performs SGB using fluoroscopic guidance, a state-of-the-art technology that allows for better visualization of anatomical structures.
At Cleveland Medical Institute, we use SGB for the treatment of:
Lying face-up on our treatment table, if necessary, you’ll receive an intravenous catheter (IV) with saline and medication to relax you. The skin on your right shoulder and neck will be cleansed. Using real-time fluoroscopic guidance, the needle will be guided to the stellate ganglion and the medication will be slowly injected over two to three minutes.
After the injection, you will continue to lie flat for five minutes, upon which time the effects on your SGB will be assessed. After the procedure is completed, you will be observed in the clinic for another 30-45 minutes before being released from care. All patients will need to be accompanied by an adult who can drive them home after discharge. Patients should not drive or operate heavy machinery the day of the procedure, but may return to normal activities the following day.
“I have suffered with crippling anxiety and PTSD for many years. After dozens of medications, that either did nothing or impaired me terribly, I started becoming my own advocate and researching other avenues. Because, honestly, I was at the end of my rope. My thoughts had become very dark. What kind of life was I living? What quality of life did I really have? Things were looking bleak.
Anyone who suffers from this knows that you can literally feel like you’re dying. You can’t breathe, you feel like you’re having a heart attack. And I also have stress-induced seizures which were destroying my life
and health. People who don’t suffer from this will never understand that you can’t just ‘calm down.’ It doesn’t work like that.
The smallest tasks become mountains to climb. During my research, I looked into a stellate ganglion block. The reviews seemed to be too good to be true. So I looked into places offering it, and was heartbroken. They offered the treatment for $2,000 a shot and did not accept insurance. This wasn’t something I could afford.
So, seeing that this was a procedure done by an anesthesiologist, I brought it to Dr. D. I showed him all the data and he researched the procedure, and agreed to do it.
All I can say is this man saved my life. I don’t make that statement lightly. I barely take any anxiety medication. I feel completely different. I’m sleeping better. It’s a night and day difference.
If this is something you are suffering from, do not hesitate. Try it. It can change your life. Thank you, Dr. Demangone. I am forever grateful for you taking this chance on me. And I am so excited to see how many people you can help.”
The pricing of any medical procedure can be daunting. But at Cleveland Medical Institute, Stellate Ganglion Block is highly affordable compared to other clinics. We charge $550 per injection, while other clinics charge upwards of $1,000. We’re committed to providing relief to all who seek it.
It’s also important to keep in mind that insurance may cover all or most of a procedure. Call today to speak with someone that can check your insurance coverage.
